RAM RODEO RETURNS TO THE INTERNATIONAL PLOWING MATCH 2012

A PREMIER AGRICULTURAL EVENT IN CANADA COMES TO WATERLOO REGION

The RAM Rodeo Tour makes its return this September 20-21-22 to the International Plowing Match in Roseville, Ontario featuring 3 performances - Show time to be announced soon! Sept 18-22 , 2012 Waterloo Region will Host the International Plowing Match and Rural Exposition at Roseville just south of K-W in the heart of the Golden Triangle Area of Southern Ontario. We expect in excess of 100,000 visitors to attend our massive 5 day, outdoor event.There will be media coverage both during and for several months prior to the IPM event A “tented city” covering 100 acres will become home to some 600 exhibitors and vendors for 5 days. There will be attractions for everyone … knowledge and education to be gained by today’s decision makers, tomorrows leaders and those who are enjoying their leisure time.

An RV Park of 1800 sites will cover another 100 acre field. Hydro, water availability and a huge entertainment tent with local and widely recognized entertainers will add excitement to the scene. We expect to showcase many of our local business related to our broad base of high technology, agriculture, alternate energy generation , manufacturing and service industries. We will be generous with our attention given to the education of our children and adults . The nation leading education facilities located within the Region of Waterloo, are some of the most highly recognized and respected Universities and Colleges in Canada. The Region of Waterloo and our Local Municipalities will participate in promoting the benefits of living, playing and working in Waterloo Region.

A significant area within the tented city will be devoted to our Corporate Sponsors Partnership Park. Here, recognition is given to those who have generously contributed to the success of our event. This area is also used as a rest area for our guests , and often used by media to conduct interviews.

And yes ..We will be hosting the 99th anniversary of the IPM plowing competition. One of our mandates is to provide a competition that promotes the safe and efficient use of farm machinery and encourages improved farm productivity and yield efficiency through proper seedbed preparation and soil management. The top two competitors in the plowing competitions will represent Ontario at the Canadian Plowing Championships in 2013. Our Queen of the furrow competition will be another major attraction, and our wrap up banquet will honour and recognize all those who have competed in the weeks plowing competitions.

Rodeo Management Group is delighted to announce the Milverton Rodeo- a much anticipated annual stop on the RAM Rodeo Tour. Milverton is a community located in the Township of Perth East in Perth County, Ontario. A village small in numbers but large in heart, Milverton is situated north of Stratford on Perth Road 131, and northwest of Kitchener-Waterloo. A significant Amish and Mennonite population live near the village, bringing a traditional sense of charm and nostalgia to this community, one nestled in the heartland of Ontario's agricultural bounty. Local roads are shared with horse and buggies and hand-made quilts and wooden furniture can be found in nearby shops which make for an enjoyable shopping experience in the Milverton-Millbank area.

The Milverton Rodeo Committee is busy preparing for the 22nd annual Milverton Rodeo and is proud of the fact that they host the longest-consecutively running rodeo in the province. Three local service groups have worked together for over two decades to ensure the tradition continues: Milverton Agricultural Society, Milverton Lions Club, and the Optimist Club of Mornington. Because of their combined efforts, numerous community projects have come to fruition: in 2003 the outdoor rodeo ring was constructed, and in 2012 work will continue on the new indoor event facility, destined to be the hub on the 20 acre property. These two important additions to the Fairgrounds only enhance the experience for both the visitor and the competitor alike.

In addition to the two RAM Rodeo performances (Saturday & Sunday at 2 p.m.) and the "legendary” Saturday Night Milverton Rodeo Dance, there are some exciting highlights planned for 2012. First, the weekend activities start Friday night at 7 p.m. when the Rodeo parade will roll-out along Main Street. Following this unique sight to see, the Family Fun Night & Video Dance Party will take place with lots of music, big screens and big fun for all ages. On Saturday morning from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., the “Rodeo Sidewalk Sales” will take place along Main Street, promising lots of excellent buys for those who are willing to search out the best deals! On Sunday morning, treat Dad on Father’s Day to a hearty country breakfast provided by local Swiss families which will satisfy your appetite for good home-cooking. Together these events are shaping up to make a truly unforgettable weekend in the country. CCA EAST JUDGING CLINIC

Please be aware the CCA requires all judges to attend a clinic and to be tested every two years. The judges clinic will occur this year. All judges that wish to judge within the next two year period must attend the clinic.   Preliminary arrangements have been made with the CCA office for the clinic to occur at our first rodeo.

At this time the rodeo contractor does not have a complete list of rodeos that have been approved by the office. This will be completed at the CCA AGM February 11, 2012. I have been advised that Ross Millar will be providing us with the schedule at the upcoming banquet.

Happy New Year and welcome to 2012! This year is slated to be one of the best in rodeo history. I would like to announce that our Eastern AGM is scheduled for:

Saturday February 25, 2012 at 1:00pm at
The Stampede Ranch, in Guelph

This meeting will be the same day as the Ram Rodeo Tour banquet to make it easier for all who are planning to attend. The AGM is your opportunity as contestants to voice your opinion and assure that you are properly represented.

We will be voting on the following rep positions:

1.Eastern Director – (Bill Thom)
2.Judges Rep – (Mary Schofield)
3.Team Roping – (Brian Roworth)
4.Tie Down/Break away – (Stephanie Gregson/Williams)
5.Stock Contractor – (Larry Smith)
6.Pole Bending – (NEW POSITION)

All positions need to have the candidate nominated, voted on in open form and accepted by majority. The Eastern Director, Stock Contractor, and Judges rep positions are voted on by all CCA members that are present but the event reps are voted on only by the participants of that event that are present at the AGM. As event participants please assure you are in attendance to cast your vote. If you are interested in any one of the positions that are up for election but cannot make the AGM, I need to know in writing of your intentions prior to the meeting.

As of today our AGM agenda is not set in stone. Please let me know if there are any items that you would like to add to the agenda or anything that you would like to have brought up for discussion.

I will be heading to Regina for the CCA AGM being held February 10th and 11th. In preparation, I am gathering a list of items to talk about from the membership here in Ontario. If you have anything on your mind that you want me to bring up please let me know with enough notice so I can be prepared to speak on your behalf.

I look forward to an exciting 2012 and I hope to continue to represent you as your CCA Eastern Director.

Effective immediately Bill Crooks is joining the Orangeville Ram Rodeo team, as Co - Chairman. Bill specializes in "audience satisfaction", making sure the ticket buyer has a good time on the first visit which makes them come back a second time or more. During Bill's tenure with the Holstein Rodeo Weekend attendance grew from 2500 admissions to over 30,000, in excess of $300,000 was raised for the Egremont Optimist Club, advance ticket sales grew to $200,000 and camping increased to 750 filed campsites. Bill is thankful for the support he received from the Holstein Rodeo committee members over the past eight years, and now looks forward to a new challenge. LATCHMAN'S POINT TO VIEW CCA FINALS ROUND FIVE

It's championship saturday night. Everyone from the warm up paddock to the back pens to the dressing rooms, all had one thing on they're minds..........A last go round win in front of a capacity crowd. Robert Ball put up his forth score of the week but the win still eluded him. Stepahnie Leyzac and the mighty Russell ran a flawless run to split 3rd & 4th spot. I believe it was they're fastest run of the week? Morgan Bos tipped can three taking her out of the money. Miles Hughston covered his last horse for the week. Cory Hopkins trying to go out with a redemption win, over shot his steer as it ducked under the hazer's horse The Jr. Steer rider Lane Morris succumbed to a previous round riding hand injury and bucked off as well as Scotty , who drew deep again! The round saw BJ Moen win the championship buckle, saddle,and all. Bill Thom rode his first bull into the ground but could not keep up with his re-ride bull.

With the season over it's time to heal up those nagging injuries, fix those little bad habits' and rest and recuperate to come out swinging in the spring.

LATCHMAN'S CCA FINALS ROUND FOUR

Round 4 brought the rank pen and it was raining cowboys. It was said Robert Balls bareback horse has been to the nfr 5 times. Stephanie put up a clean run but again finished just out of the money, Morgan tipped one can. Cory Hopkins had tuff luck and drew the one steer not to have!! Both the jr boys came down but have won the crowd with their one handed style - Ram Tour finals invitee BJ Moen put up yet another score to claim the round. Bill Thom drew the bull tree shaker noted as the one no one wanted to get and almost closed the deal at just over 7 sec.

LATCHMAN'S CCA CHAMPIONSHIPS ROUND THREE

Round 3 is now in the books. Robert Ball got another one ride but missed his mark out. Miles took a re ride and bucked off. Lane and Scotty both came down off theyre Jr Steers which were snotty lil buggars. This time around I have added a few other rides as well this time including round winner JB Moen. Our super star Cory Hopkins has everyone paying attention now but missed his steer. Stephanie is getting faster each go but was still just out of the cash line, Morgan Bos jumped to second place in the go. I have included a few bulls for everyone to see the calibre the cowboys are dealing with - Bill Thom walked away from a mauling fairly unscathed others weren't so lucky. The latchman cam glasses suffered a fall and so quality is poor due to impact but new pair are on order. So i will do my best to deliver the best footage i can. stay tuned for the forth go where they bring out the rank pen of bulls.

The Ontario crew is now finding their stride with round two now in the books . 2nd round action saw both bronc riders Robert Ball and Miles Hughston drawing weak and scoring out of the money, Steff and Russell ran a clean barrel pattern but ended up just out side the money as well. Jr Barrels Morgan Bos landed in forth place and getting the last spot at the pay window. Cory Hopkins first out, put up the winning time right up to the last steer wrestler who bumped him to second place. Jr bulls saw Lane Morris win the crowd and the round. The Megadome cowboy Bill Thom drew another good bull and was brought down early.
